Poole Armed Forces Day Event Cancelled

Poole's Armed Forces Day event has been cancelled due to a lack of participants.  Due to take place on Sunday 27 June 2010, the day aimed to bring a new event to Poole's packed Summertime in the South programme which sees over 60 special events taking place in the town from February-November.

Anne Simpson, Poole Tourism Events Manager, said: "We had hoped to put on a really great celebration and bring a brand new event to Poole Quay but this is a busy time for the Armed Forces and unfortunately not enough organisations were able to commit to coming along.  This means we are unable to hold a specific event and I apologise to anyone who is disappointed at missing out this time around.  We are always looking at new ways of bringing special events to Poole, but for anyone coming down to the Quay there is still plenty to see and do and you might be surprised at just what you find."

Poole Quay will be centre stage on Saturday 19 June 2010 as rampaging pirates invade for a day and evening of Paye Day fun.  On the same day visitors will also have the chance to take to the high seas with  Poole Afloat, Poole's biggest free boating and watersports event.  The evening will be rounded off with a fabulous firework finale just after 10pm. For more information visit www.pooletourism.com link will open in new window
