19 Sep 07Young People Have Their Say On Libraries
Young book lovers in Poole are being asked what they think of their local libraries and how they could be improved.
Borough of Poole is inviting under-16s to fill in a questionnaire about the children's services currently on offer at libraries across the town.
Young people will be asked about their experiences of using the library and the available resources and encouraged to draw or write down any ideas to make the library better for them.
They can complete the questionnaire at Poole Central, Branksome, Broadstone, Canford Cliffs, Canford Heath, Hamworthy, Oakdale, Parkstone and Rossmore libraries from September 24 to 29.
Library staff will be on hand to assist young people who want to complete a questionnaire.
Copies of the questionnaire will also be available from Borough of Poole's mobile library between September 24 and October 6.
Cllr Peter Adams, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure, said: "Libraries play a big part in many of our young people's lives and are a valuable resource for their learning experiences. It is important that we listen to our young library users so that the service we provide remains relevant and useful."
Borough of Poole libraries offer a range of services and events for children. As well as books and magazines, there is a range of story tapes and CDs, DVDs, videos and computer games, plus books for teenage readers.
Regular children's reading groups are held for youngsters at Canford Heath and Oakdale libraries.
For more information about the questionnaire, speak to library staff or contact Borough of Poole's Library Services on 01202 260407.
