Canford Heath Guide 1999

A new guide providing comprehensive information on services and facilities has been produced for local residents and workers in Canford Heath. The "Canford Heath Guide", a first for the Borough of Poole, will be officially launched on Monday, 14 December 1998 at Canford Heath Library by the Mayor of Poole, Councillor Graham Curtis.

The guide has been produced in partnership with sponsorship from Transco, and published by Community Magazines. Many local people have also contributed to the guide through the Canford Heath Project, a community learning and development initiative set up by the Borough of Poole.

Councillor Curtis said: "A common complaint of local residents is the difficulty in finding out what is available or happening locally. Now all the hard work has been done, and I am sure the people of Canford Heath will find this book extremely useful as the range of services available locally is most impressive".

The guide contains a map of Canford Heath, A-Z directory of local services and facilities, a potted history of the area by Jez Martin, the Canford Heath Warden and will be distributed to all Canford Heath residents in the new year. Each guidebook has a unique number, and over the coming months, prize winning numbers will be drawn and announced in the Canford Heath Magazine.

John Murphy, Transco Asset Manager said: "Transco operates within the community and is committed to providing support for local initiatives. Following the recent pipe laying to secure winter supplies to the area, I am delighted that we have been able to sponsor the production of the Canford Heath Handbook. I am sure it will provide a valuable point of reference for residents on the Heath".

Jane Roxby, Community Liaison Officer for the Canford Heath Project said: "The sheer size of Canford Heath makes it very difficult for residents to identify a clear focal point. It is hoped that this guide will provide a much needed community focus, so keep your copy safe, you'll be surprised at how much there is in it."
