Ranger Walks

Events, guided walks and tasks

We hold various events link will open in new window throughout the year aimed getting people involved in wildlife and conservation.

A few events are on a booking basis though most you can just turn up on the day with appropriate clothing and if it's a conservation task we'll provide any necessary equipment and show you what to do.

Volunteering

It's not often you can join a group without paying a joining fee, but to sign up to the Poole Council Volunteer Network just requires you to give Leisure Services Ranger Team your name and address or email address. We will add you to our Network contacts list and you will receive the new events lists (usually twice a year). The events are a great opportunity for learning about Poole's heaths and other informal sites, as well as meeting new people.

As a Volunteer you can get involved as much or as little as you wish. For many receiving the events list or updates via a newsletter is all they would like, while others wish to come out and help with the practical tasks, and some want to be able to help look after the site, encouraging other visitors to use it responsibly. Whichever describes you best, please get in touch and be added to the contacts list. Any contribution you can make is much appreciated and very valuable in helping the Ranger Team look after these important urban habitats. If you decide later that you no longer wish to be on the Network list then you just need to let us know and your contact details can be removed.

The sites currently included by the Volunteer Network are: Canford Heath, Bourne Valley (including Talbot Heath), Creekmoor Ponds, Vineyards Copse, Ham Common and Broadstone Heath. Currently Newsletters are only written for Canford Heath, Ham Common and Bourne Valley Nature Reserves, while a range of events are held on a variety of sites across the borough.

You can specify a particular area you are interested in or keep it more general, you will then be sent the appropriate information and updates (the information produced varies between sites).

Your details are held in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998. The information will only be used for contact purposes related to the Volunteer Network and will not be passed on to other parties
