Plastic Bags

Avoid accepting new bags and reuse old bags as much as possible. You could use a cotton bag or buy "Bags for Life" from most supermarkets.

Plastic bags often become litter so remember to dispose of them properly when you have finished with them. There are plastic bag recycling points at some Asda, Tesco's, and Sainsbury's supermarkets, where you can recycle all brands of carrier bags.

Carrier bags can be used again as bin liners at home.

The Clean Green Bag Scheme link will open in new window is a local environmental group dedicated to raising awareness of the environmental impact of plastic bags. They are encouraging local retailers to stop supplying free plastic bags by suggesting the use of greener alternatives and hoping to inspire consumers to re-use their own bags.

Printer Cartridge Refilling Scheme

Over 47 million printer cartridges are thrown away each year in the UK alone. These take around 450 years to decompose.

We have joined forces with everything4printers to provide a printer cartridge recycling scheme for you. Empty injet and laser cartridges that are collected are refilled and then sold as a recycled product. Local businesses are also being encouraged to take advantage of the collection and delivery scheme and the savings they can make.
