Dog Fouling Controls

Legislative changes have extended the types of land where local authorities can introduce local laws on dog fouling. A review of the existing dog fouling Order led by Poole's Environmental & Consumer Protection Service Unit has resulted in the introduction of a new dog fouling order by the Borough of Poole's Environment and Overview Committee. The new Order came into force on 20th July 2006.

The Clean Neighbourhoods And Environment Act 2005 and The Fouling Of Land By Dogs (Borough Of Poole) Order 2006.

The Order states that it is an offence to leave dog faeces on any open land to which the public are permitted access in Poole Borough.

This is defined as: All land which is open to the air and to which the public are entitled or permitted to have access (with or without payment) within the Borough Of Poole other than land which is placed at the disposal of the Forestry Commissioners under Section 39 (1) of the Forestry Act 1967.

Any person committing a breach of the Order will be liable upon prosecution to such fine as is prescribed by Section 56 (2) of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.
