Public Transport
The Borough of Poole has an active role in the promotion of public transport and this includes bus 
, coach , rail and taxi services.
It is important that our area has good public transport for a number of reasons:-
- Helping to reduce congestion - lots of passengers on one bus take up much less road space than the same amount of cars.
- Providing access to work, health, learning and leisure facilities for local households without cars and visitors from home and abroad.
- Better for the environment - more of us using public transport will reduce pollution and emissions of greenhouse gasses.
The Borough of Poole is working to achieve these aims by:-
- Providing bus information.
- Providing bus stops, shelters and Real Time electronic displays giving up to the minute information on bus arrivals. This system is also being expanded to give information via text message direct to your mobile phone.
- Giving passengers priority at some of our congested roads and junctions.
- Subsidising a range of "socially necessary" bus services which otherwise would not operate. These include the popular Route ONE town centre bus linking the bus and railway stations with the Quay and Hospital. There's also the Rossmore Flyer in Parkstone and Routes 7 and 32 .
- Issuing Concessionary bus passes which give free bus travel to permanent Borough of Poole residents aged 60 and over. Younger people with certain disabilities may also qualify too.
