Freedom Of Information Act
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) has been introduced to encourage openness and transparency in public authorities. It gives the general public a right of access to information held, subject to a number of exemptions
. As a public authority the Borough of Poole has two main responsibilities under the Act:
- To produce and maintain a Publication Scheme
. Our scheme specifies the type of information we publish, the format it is published in, and if there is a charge for the information. - To provide a right of access to information held by the Borough of Poole.
The majority of information you will require is available on our website or via our Publication Scheme which can be searched on-line. If you cannot find the information here, you can make a request for information
. The request must be in writing, or via email or fax, and include your name and contact details, and a description of the information sought. Replies will normally be made within a period of 20 working days.
With some information a fee
will be charged
Our quarterly request log gives an outline of the information that is being requested. For further information please contact the Corporate FOI Officer at information@poole.gov.uk
Please Note: Requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act must be directed to Officers of the Council rather than Councillors.
