Accessing Funding: An Introduction
If you live and work in Poole or work in a Poole setting you may be entitled to help towards all or part of the costs of a qualification course. To access this funding you need to contact the Training college/provider of your chosen course and obtain the Training and Funding Information Pack. Alternatively, contact the Training and Recruitment Team for a copy.

Booking places
You can book places for many of our local authority courses via the Poole Workforce Development 
website. To find out how you can set up a user account, search and book courses, you can read the general guidance .
If you wish to submit an application to cover any associated costs please note that:
- A completed application should be submitted before any expectation of funding is relied on to pay for the course.
- Funding is limited. Any person who attends a course without confirmation of funding may be subject to full payment of the course fee.
External funding possibilities
Awards for All can award grants of between £300 and £10,000 for people who take part in arts, sport, heritage, and community activities, together with projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
Other national grant makers
Abbey Charitable Trust is committed to supporting local communities and disadvantaged people, particularly where Abbey has a significant presence. Abbey funds projects based on three priorities: education and training, financial advice, and community regeneration.
Co-operative Community Fund is aimed at helping communities to help themselves by supporting local groups committed to enhancing community life with grants. Applicants must be a corporate body acting in line with the co-operative values.
Lloyds Pharmacy Charitable Fund will consider requests from registered charities concerned with health, well-being, children and families and community projects. You can contact the Trust on 02476-432-400.
Lloyds TSB Foundation is focused on supporting small and medium underfunded charities that can make a significant difference to the lives of disadvantage people. You can take the online eligible test to find out more.
Small Firms Loan Guarantee Scheme helps small and medium-sized businesses that have viable business plans, where a conventional loan may be appropriate, but is not available as they may not have the assets to offer as security.
The Prince's Trust may be able to help you if you are aged 18 to 30, and looking to set up a community project or start a new business.
The Southwest Foundation offer grants to voluntary and community organisations.
