Gateway Team - The access point for Mental Health Services
Our Aim
To enable adults in Poole to achieve, maintain and enjoy emotional and social well-being through the provision of a specialised service.
Who are we
A team of professionals from a range of backgrounds such as social work, counselling, clinical psychology and other practitioners who have an interest and specialist training in mental health and psychological well being. The service is a partnership between the Borough of Poole and Dorset Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Who can we help
- adult residents of the Boroughs of Bournemouth and Poole
- adults age 16+ (not in full time education)
- people ready to engage with us who have a willingness to make positive plans for the future and will benefit from a our services
- anyone experiencing a common mental health problem and/or social isolation
What we offer
- appropriate intervention to meet need
- a stepped care approach where identified need may lead to more intensive intervention
- signposting to appropriate voluntary/independent agencies
- group work/workshops based on a cognitive behaviour approach to gain awareness of and develop skills to manage:
a) anxiety
b) depression
c) assertiveness - guided self help
- one to one support, working together using a range of approaches with people who are experiencing anxiety and depressive disorders
- access to counselling and more intensive psychological treatment where clinic need is identified
- assistance with access to employment services
