Day Opportunities for People who have a Learning Disability
The Community Outreach and Support Team (known as COAST) works to address disadvantage and disability in Poole. We work with people who have a commissioned need for service and a referred by their Care Manager.
Mission Statement:
To enrich the lives of adults with learning disabilities by developing their vocational, recreational and learning opportunities and experiences.
Purpose:
- Independence - to support and enable individuals to develop their independence and reduce their dependence on social care services
- Choice and Empowerment - to support and enable individuals to improve upon the choices and control they have in their lives
- Social Inclusion and Citizenship - to support and enable individuals to become accepted and valued members of their local community
- Individual Identity and Status - to support and enable individuals to make a positive contribution to their community and to realise their potential
We help individuals to:
- obtain voluntary work or paid work for less than 16 hours a week
- learn to travel as independently as possible
- access adult learning courses and further their adult learning experiences
- participate in a range of community based occupational and recreational activities
